Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” (750 ml, black, RAL 9005) is a single-component coating that protects metal against corrosion and offers excellent adhesion, flexibility and mechanical resistance. It combines primer, intermediate coat and topcoat in one product, significantly reducing application time and costs. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces, including steel, aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised surfaces, concrete and plastic. Fast-drying: touch-dry in 20–30 minutes and fully cured within 3–4 days. Complies with DIN EN ISO 12944, NORSOK M-501 and other international standards.

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” – Universal Single-Component Corrosion Protection Coating

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” (jet black) is a high-quality, environmentally friendly, single-component industrial coating with a proven track record in the construction, infrastructure, transport and industrial sectors. The product combines a primer, intermediate coat and topcoat, significantly reducing processing time and costs without compromising protection. It is designed for use on a wide range of surfaces in various service environments, including C5-M in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12944.

RAL 9005 (Jet Black) is a deep black shade from the RAL Classic colour palette. It is one of the most commonly used black industrial shades, chosen for metal structures, equipment and technical components where a neutral, practical and visually striking coating is required. In this shade, Brantho-Korrux 3in1 combines an anti-corrosion primer, intermediate coat and finish in one product, providing long-lasting protection for metal.

Practical applications

  • Vehicle frames, trailer structures and metal parts requiring a durable black protective coating.
  • Agricultural, construction and municipal machinery parts – frames, brackets, guards and metal components.
  • Industrial equipment housings and machinery parts in manufacturing environments.
  • Steel structures, supports and metal frameworks.
  • Tool cabinets, workshop equipment and technical metal components

Chemical composition and environmental properties:

The product is based on polyester resins with active, multi-stage rust-inhibiting pigments that provide excellent corrosion protection. The formulation is completely free of lead, zinc, chromium and aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene and xylene. The product meets the strictest environmental safety criteria (DIN ISO 14001, EMAS) and is classified as A+ for emissions in accordance with French indoor air quality standards.

Physical properties:

  • Gloss level: Semi-matt (25–55%), depending on the pigment
  • Solids content: ~70% by weight, ~53% by volume
  • Density: 1.2–1.5 g/cm³ (varies depending on the pigment)
  • VOC content: Less than 400 g/l, depending on the amount of thinner added
  • Electrical conductivity: Suitable for use on the exterior of fuel tanks

Drying and curing parameters:

At 20 °C and 65% relative humidity:

  • Touch dry: 20–30 minutes
  • Fully dry: 8–10 hours
  • Fully cured: 3–4 days
  • Maximum mechanical strength: 7–10 days

The product is not suitable for thermal drying (it cannot be oven-dried); however, it continues to cure over time, improving adhesion even after several days.

Coating thickness and coverage:

  • Theoretical coverage: 8.8 m²/l at a dry film thickness of 60 µm
  • With MIO pigments (e.g. RAL 9006, DB701): thicknesses of up to 120 µm can be achieved in a single coat
  • Drying time may be longer with thicker coats, but this improves corrosion protection

Application methods and conditions:

  • Brush/roller: Ready to use without thinning
  • Airless spraying: Nozzle 0.5–0.7 mm, pressure ≥160 bar, thinning ~3%
  • Conventional air spraying: Nozzle 2.0–2.5 mm, pressure 4–5 bar, thinning ~10%
  • HVLP/Airmix: Thinning of up to 15% is permitted
  • Dipping: Keep the coating material stirred regularly; particularly suitable for production environments

Optimum application temperature: +15 °C to +25 °C; permissible range: -10 °C to +30 °C. At low temperatures, using warm material or solvent is recommended.

Suitable surfaces:

The coating can be applied to:

  • Iron, steel, stainless steel, zinc, aluminium, copper
  • Old coatings, rust, concrete, screed, glass
  • Many rigid plastics (ABS, PS, PC, GRP, etc.)
  • Anodised aluminium, galvanised metal (with pretreatment)

Not suitable for use on soft plastics such as PE, PP or soft PVC.

Resistance properties:

The product withstands prolonged contact with:

  • Salt water, UV radiation, moisture condensation
  • Fuels, hydraulic oils, antifreeze and chemicals
  • Temperature loads up to 300 °C (above 120 °C, visual fading may occur)

Certification and testing:

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” has been tested and certified in accordance with:

  • DIN EN ISO 12944 – corrosion protection in all 6 categories (C1 to C5)
  • NORSOK M-501 – 4200 h test cycle (UV, salt spray, thermal loads)
  • TÜV SÜD, DEKRA – approvals as a replacement for epoxy, PVC and red lead coatings
  • BASt / TL 918300 – for use on road infrastructure projects
  • EN 71-3 – suitable for painting toys (safe in contact with saliva/sweat)

Additional properties:

  • Colour-mixing options: unlimited combinations
  • Various gloss levels can be adjusted with additives
  • Available in Komfortdose (aerosol) form for small surfaces
  • Suitable for electrostatic spraying due to its conductive properties

Unique feature – unlimited recoating:

Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” can be recoated with itself any number of times, without the need to key or sand the surface. This is particularly useful:

  • For maintenance work requiring additional protection
  • On projects with complex geometries where sanding is impractical
  • In situations requiring a flexible workflow without preparing the surface between coats

This feature sets Brantho-Korrux “3 in 1” apart from its competitors, as most alternatives require surface preparation or an intermediate coat to ensure adhesion and coating integrity.
