One of the most important steps in ensuring a vehicle’s longevity. This highly effective, solvent-based rust inhibitor is specially formulated to provide outstanding protection in hidden cavities, seams and joints, where the risk of corrosion is highest.

How does it work?

A professional-grade anti-corrosion agent based on a unique formula of waxes, sulphonates and special oils. Unlike standard solutions, this product forms a durable, greasy and highly moisture-repellent layer after application. Its low viscosity enables deep penetration into surfaces, allowing it to effectively reach seams, joints and folds in metal. The liquid penetrates deep into even microscopic cracks and hard-to-reach cavities in the vehicle frame.

Once dry, the product remains flexible and forms a brown, moisture-repellent wax film that does not crack even with extreme temperature fluctuations. This makes it an ideal choice for Latvia’s changing weather conditions, where salt and moisture pose a constant threat to metal surfaces.

The product has been tested in comparative trials and approved for use on most car makes.

Areas of use and compatibility

Mercasol 1 is designed to protect hidden structures and joints in cars against corrosion, and can also be used as a base coat in combination with Mercasol underbody coatings.

Internal cavities: Doors, sills, chassis rails and boot lids, where moisture build-up promotes rust formation.

Seams and joints: Flanges and structural joints that need protection against moisture and salt ingress.

As a base coat on exposed surfaces: Can be used as a base layer in underbody protection systems in combination with Mercasol 3 or Mercasol 3AL, improving the adhesion of the next layer to the surface.

The product is compatible with most modern automotive corrosion protection systems and has been tested for use on factory coatings.

Instructions for use

For maximum effectiveness, the anti-rust treatment process must be followed carefully:

• Surface preparation: Before treatment, make sure the surface is clean and dry. Remove all loose rust, dirt, oil and road salt residue. Remember—a quality preparation is 50% of the result.
• Application: The product can be applied using a special nozzle for precise dispensing. The optimum application temperature is between +15°C and +25°C.
• Drying time: Drying time depends on the air humidity. At +23°C and 50% relative humidity, it is approximately 8 hours.

If you plan to apply Mercasol 3 or 3AL, we recommend waiting at least 1 hour after applying Mercasol 1.

Compatibility and system use

Mercasol is part of a multi-layer anti-corrosion protection system in which proper surface preparation is essential.

Important: Mercasol 1 and Mercasol 3 products are not intended for application directly onto active rust.

For rusted surfaces, we recommend using Owatrol Oil as the first stabilising layer. It penetrates the rust, stops it from progressing and forms a solid, stable coating that prepares the surface for further treatment. Available in: 300 ml aerosol, 0.5 l and 1 l packs.

After stabilising the surface:

• Mercasol 1 protects internal cavities after surface stabilisation.
• Mercasol 3 AL (bronze) provides an external protective layer with high mechanical and moisture resistance, thanks to its aluminium pigment content.
• Mercasol 3 BL (black) is an alternative coating with the same protective properties, selected according to aesthetic preferences or application requirements.

Mercasol products are available in:

• 600 ml aerosol format, fitted with a special nozzle for precise dispensing
• 1 l pack, designed for use with a pneumatic spray gun and a special cavity probe.

Used together, these layers form a complete corrosion protection system for the vehicle body and underbody, with clearly defined functions: rust stabilisation, cavity protection and an external mechanical barrier.

A separately available 360° internal cavity spray probe is also available for convenient, even coating application.
